The towel. For my bridal shower, I was given a pair of beautiful white Egyptian cotton towels. Amazingly, they've stayed white through Miss M and the surprise at-home birth of Miss S. (I was on the floor trying to keep that baby in and thinking, I hope my doula doesn't grab the good towels. Grab the crappy towels for all the baby juice to come out on!) Now, Miss S is a very moist child. We go through lots of burp clothes, clothes, blankets, mommy shirts, breast pads, and towels trying to keep my leaky baby dry. Between that and a husband who goes through 2-4 pairs of socks a day, I do a lot of laundry. To save water and electricity, I've gotten in the habit of throwing everything in one load and using only cold water. Towels, whites, darks, it makes no difference. If I think there might be bleeding, I use a dye magnet and I've never had a problem in 4.5 years. Until yesterday. I bought some fabric and threw it in with the white towel, a set of plum sheets, and a pink towel. I tossed in a dye magnet for good luck and walked off. 30 minutes later I was putting the wet stuff in the dryer, when I noticed I had two pink towels. Oh poo! I decided to throw the used-to-be white towel with the next load and throw a couple more dye magnets in. Well, I'll be darned, but it came out even more pink. Turns out there was a baby outfit that was red and it bled. Nice. I could have just left it alone. It was very pink (along with 2 pairs of my undies and a couple breast pads) and would match the downstairs bathroom nicely. But noooooo. Not me. I can't leave well enough alone. I threw the cursed towel back in with more dye magnets. It is now a dingy grey/pink. At this point, I gave up. When I'm tired of looking at it, I'll either bleach it or throw it back in with something red and make it pink.
In other news, my sister in law (the aforementioned doula) is pregnant and due Feb. 7. I recieved a call last night that she had been in the hospital for monitoring all day because she had been having mini-contractions all day. They checked her and she's 50% efaced, the baby is fully engaged, she's 1 dilated, and they're making an appointment, "just in case". I wasn't too worried until that I heard about that "just in case" appointment. With both my kids, they've scheduled a "just in case" appointment and within 3 days I had a baby. I'm madly trying to get everything packed and ready "just in case" baby comes early.
I made beef stew for dinner last night. I like stew. It's yummy and something that, with enough cheese, Miss M will eat. Yay for stew!
Miss M was able to video conference with daddy in Japan. She showed him all her new and favorite toys. He said it was like playing toys with her long distance.

Speaking of the devil, there's Miss M now. Apparently she is "firsty" (thirsty) and
"I got the chicken mama!"
That is a piece of fake fried chicken.
As you can see, things are pretty quiet here. Just another day here at the funny farm. Later I'll wrestle Miss M into some clothes and we'll go buy a bassinet for my sister in law. After that we're supposed to go over to a friends house and "play toys." Should be fun.
